MBBS, MSc (Community Medicine), MD (Community Medicine)
Dr Liyanage is a broadly experienced doctor who has been in medical practice for over 19 years. She completed her Medical degree (MBBS) at the University of Ruhuna in Sri Lanka and gained nearly nine years of experience in a variety of hospitals in different specialties in Sri Lanka.
She then chose to specialize in the Public Health field, gaining experience and training in a variety of sub-specialties in Community Medicine including General, Immunisation, Maternal and child health, Noncommunicable diseases, Cancer care, and Communicable diseases. In addition to this, she is interested in research in Communicable and Non communicable diseases.
She obtained MSc (Community Medicine) and MD (Community Medicine) degrees from the University of Colombo as post-graduate specialist qualifications. Part of her training was done in the Allergy and Lung Health unit, at Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, The University of Melbourne, Australia. Following her specialist training she served as a Specialist (Community Medicine) in the Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka. At present, Dr. Liyanage holds specialist registration to practice in Sri Lanka (SLMC), in addition to the registration to practice medicine in Australia. Dr. Liyanage also has vast experience as a General Practitioner from 2008 to 2022 in Sri Lanka.
